If you have started a business name transfer and then decide you do not need/want to transfer your business name anymore you may cancel this process direct with ASIC, however, ASIC may not be able to stop a business name transfer for any of the following reasons:
- Your registration has already been cancelled; or
- The new holder has registered or applied to register the business name using the transfer key.
- To stop your business name transfer online you will first need to go to ASIC Connect Search and check the two requirements listed above.
You will then need to send an email request to BN.lodgements@asic.gov.au. Make sure you include the business name, the transfer number and why the transfer needs to be stopped.
Your application to stop the transfer will be reviewed and will be processed in approximately 5 business days.
